Ellie looks like her mom

I originally thought she looked more like me, but the photo evidence doesn't lie.

Which one of these things is not like the other?

Okay. So I did some minor photoshopping of my daughter for her Christmas picture. Blame it on my poor photography skills.

Although I insist that it wasn't a big deal, I still have taken a lot of crap for it. In my defense, here is the before and after:

Hindsight being what it is, giving her the slight smirk may have been a tad too much. I still stand behind my decision.

We're Back

Sorry for the hiatus. I've been negligent in my posting duties and dare not draw the ire of the Grandmas' any longer. We'll make this entry a longer to make up for lost time.

Just a quick shout out to Grandma Cullen -- Glad you are home and feeling better. Ellie misses you and hopes to see you soon!

Where to begin? I can tell you that Ellie is pudging up nicely. Her appetite has increased and she sleeps almost six hours through the night. Mom does a great job in getting her very close to being on a schedule. She seems to know that nighttime is for sleeping. When Ellie is up, she is UP; wide-eyed and ready to explore what the day has in store for her.

We get lots of laughs and smiles out of her. (Of course, having a silly Daddy makes that all too easy.) Here is Ellie looking intently at her Daddy and laughing:

We think the best part is watching her sleep. Here is Ellie in action:

Naps really are the best.

Tummy Time!!

Ellie loves tummy time!
(hey everyone -- Jamie here. Just had to update this post as this was Erin's 1st. I was showing her how to post and we used this picture. It is one of our favorites. Ellie can hold her head up pretty good from time to time, and the tummy time seems to be paying off. What a cute baby!!)

Small things have profound meaning

The night after Ellie was born, Erin had me go home to get some needed sleep and tend to the dogs. I hated to leave, and found that I was anxious be with my girls after I got home. Early the next morning, I walked out into the backyard with the dogs. As I was walking back towards the house, I noticed a single pink rose on our rosebush that I had never seen before. All the previous roses had been white. I ran back inside and grabbed a pair of scissors. I put the single bud into a small vase, then hustled back to the hospital. As I drove back to the hospital (coffee in hand), I started to think that maybe it wasn't a coincidence that I discovered it when I did.

Photos from hospital

Not sure why I was able to do this, but I managed to download copies of the photos taken by the photographer at the hospital. You can find the photos here:

Bath Time!!

I'm not going to say that she loved it, but I can't say that she hated it either.

Here, Ellie gets her 1st bath. Whoever invented Cucumber Melon bath soap and Baby Magic lotion should be heralded as geniuses.

Life lession #1: Babies smell GOOD.
